I didn’t realize it had been so long since my last post, sorry! I’ve been a little wrapped up in getting the hosting account set up for this blog as well as working on another site. Time flies when you’re having fun….. So yesterday I had a facial. It had a been a while since I’ve had a facial, as I tend to go for the massage whenever I need some pampering (and often it’s ‘just because’- I am a bit of a massage junkie). However, as my time in the sun has caught up with me I figured it’s time I start taking my skincare routine a bit more seriously. Which is to say that I can’t just get away with washing my face twice a day and moisturizing. So, I went in to see where I needed to start. I went to the same spa in town where I get my hair done and get massages (ok- a little shameless plug for Oasis- the place is a little piece of heaven for me and every single person who works there is great!). I had to fill out a new customer profile for the facial since it had been so long (my bad). The esthetician was super sweet and of course the bed was warm. She talked to me a little bit in the beginning and then when she did a little microdermabrasion (which I may be going back for again, but have decided to start with a couple of peels. I’ll let you know how that goes….), other than that it was completely relaxing, soothing spa music in the background and I was completely comfortable (oh yeah, and she put lotion on my hands, covered them with plastic and then put heated mits on my hands! fabulous!!!). It was an outstanding way to start the day if I do say so myself! So, does pampering count when it comes to self-help? Clearly you know how I feel about it. A massage or spa pedicure can completely take the stress away, and not just for the time during the session. It’s sort of a validation for me that taking care of myself is a priority and I KNOW my kids benefit from it (although maybe not to the degree I do!). My daughter (who is 11) actually asked me how old you have to be to get a massage. To which I replied, “Old enough to pay for it yourself!”. So, as far as I’m concerned, as long as you can afford it, then yes, pampering absolutely falls under ’self-help’. Now….back to iTunes to turn on my background ocean sounds. I’m such a geek.
